The Refinery is a seeking a full-time Marketing & Business Development (“BD”) Lead to help expand our impact in the world, joining our team in Vancouver, British Columbia or Toronto, Ontario. Make no mistake, this role is all about execution.

Approximately 60% of this role will involve activating and coordinating execution of the North American Marketing and Business Development strategy including driving Marketing and Events activities, and 40% of the role will involve activities supporting the BD efforts and BD Team. The 60/40% allocation may vary depending on the time of the year (some months may be more BD heavy and others Marketing) and the experience of the successful candidate. It is expected that this position will be based out of either Vancouver or Toronto. The role may require approximately 10% travel within Canada.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

MARKETING & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY ACTIVATION (60%)

  • Coordinate action plans with the BD Team who are leading our business development strategy
  • Provide input, and expertise into marketing strategy along with execution
  • Edit, format, and help create/respond to RFPs (Request for Proposals) and other proposals to potential clients
  • Plan and execute projects and events (e.g. campaigns, networking events) within budgets and deadlines
  • Gather and send relevant materials to potential clients
  • Ensure that project or event-related materials are shipped and delivered in a timely manner
  • Liaise with potential clients and follow up with event participants (e.g. expressing appreciation of attendance and requesting feedback)
  • Provide market research support

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT COORDINATION (40%)

  • Maintain the business development pipeline in real time – the pipeline contains documents for potential clients’ contact information, status, and follow-up actions (using the current CRM system in Netsuite)
  • Support in both initiating and scheduling business development meetings with potential clients
  • Manage bookings and scheduling for internal events and meetings (e.g. company retreats, financial meetings, etc.) BD Calendar, Campaign, Document Organization

  • Strong interpersonal skills

DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCES

  • Experience in Sales, Marketing and/or Business Development execution a requirement
  • Experience in graphic design or working with graphic designers an asset
  • Strong project management skills
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Keen attention to details related to logistics, planning, and communications
  • Strong abilities in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word (Publisher and other an asset)
  • Written/spoken French will be considered an asset
  • Written/spoken Spanish will be considered an asset
  • Experience with marketing related technology support will be considered an asset
  • Experience working/reporting remotely will be considered an asset

COMPENSATION

  • Base Salary (Amount TBD) – or contract
  • 20 Vacation Days/Year

FORECASTED TIMELINE

  • Phone Interview: End of July/Early August 2017 (The conversation will be with the HR Coordinator)
  • In-Person Interview(s): TBD (The conversation will involve the CEO and other Senior Leadership, depending upon the location)
  • We hope to hire for an August or September 2017 start or sooner if available
