Accounting Lead

We are seeking an Accounting Lead to join our international team. This is an opportunity for individuals with an entrepreneurial mindset who have experience developing systems and processes to meet the ongoing needs of a growing and changing business. Successful candidates will quickly realize that a healthy curiosity and a spirit of adventure are two of the key tools for success at Refinery. Based in Vancouver, the role could require approximately 10% travel.


  • Manage full cycle accounting for Canadian Operations and coordinate with external accounting professionals in other geographic regions
  • Process company expense reports and Canadian accounts payables, including posting and payments
  • Creation and distribution of client invoices
  • Month-end activities including bank reconciliations, client collections and updating our forecasted financial information
  • Semi-monthly payroll processing using ADP
  • Ensure accounting compliance (includes annual filings and managing external vendors) across all regions of operations in Canada, Mexico, and Chile
  • Maintain historical and forecasted financial data to support corporate and client-related decision making
  • Create, develop and improve internal systems and processes to support corporate goals


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalency is required, professional accounting designation is preferred
  • 2+ years experience working in a professional services environment and full cycle accounting
  • Well versed in technical accounting systems (Fluency in cloud-based accounting is preferred, experience with NetSuite an asset)
  • Experience establishing and developing offices/operations for an international professional services firm
  • Experience working with multiple organizational systems
  • Ability to translate financial accounting data and results into informative and useful reports for decision makers
  • Spanish language considered an asset
